INSPIRING FUTURES : GIRLS' STEM EXPLORATION WORKSHOP

INSPIRING FUTURES : GIRLS' STEM EXPLORATION WORKSHOP

The Application for the STEM Grant was submitted in Decemebr 2023 and the result came in March 2024. This was my firstb attempt to write a proposal for a fund. I studied the various reports of TryEngineering website and the guidelines given. I was very excited that my first grant request was received.

We had planned the programme for May 2024 but since the accreditation of our institution was happening in nmay, we couldnt execute as we proposed. Hence we decided to conduct thw workshop on OCtober 19,20 and 26. As planned after 14 days, we had the reciew and valedictory function.

Poster for the programme

Day 1 Oct 19, 2024
After registrations, we hasd an icebreaking session led by our volunteer Vrida K.P.

The we had the Introduction to STEM

Further we started with Introduction  to Computers  and Microbit

This was followed by hands-on session.

On second day, we had an exhibition of various processors and sensor/actuators.

On third day we had introduction to Bliuetooth and handson on Bluetooth using arduino. Also studenst learned to use two microbits: one as a Tranmsitter and other as a Receive and indicate a dove as an indiaction of receiving data.

Valedictory Function Poster
Around two weeks later, we had the valedictory function on Novemeber 9th, 2024.

The chief guest for the valedictory function was the Chair of Kerla Section Prof. Mohammed Kassim.
All students shared their feedback.

One student said that her greatest dream was to see a microbit and her dream was realised through this workshop.

Another student said that she heard but had never seen a motherboard. This worshop helped her to see and touch a motherbaord.

Another student told that in her school, lasy year, there was s similar workshop but only boys were permitted to participate in it. She expressed her thanks for conducting the programme for the girls.
